True story: Alex was a Product Manager in New York with a dream to build his own fitness business. He spent most of his time making products for someone else, and knew he had to quit to focus on his dream. Working with his coach, he was able to come up with a clear financial plan, save towards his goal, and take the leap — while still feeling supported.
Whether or not we want to admit it, the way we feel about money impacts the way we live our lives. That includes going for your dream of starting a business. If you’re considering this major change, here are some tips to keep in mind:
You know yourself best. Write down why you want to do this, what your goals are, and where you see your startup going. Think big! You can reference this anytime you start to doubt yourself or anytime you want to track your progress.
This might be tough to admit, but what do you believe is really getting in your way? Is it confidence, money, time, or all three? The truth is, there are always going to be obstacles, but if you identify them, you can work around them.
There’s a difference between an idea, and a plan. What do the next 12 months look like? Write it down. Then go one step further and write down the first step in as much detail as you can.
You’ve set the foundation for success so what’s next? Maybe you need a loan, a website, or some mentorship. Whatever it is, take action and course-correct along the way. The hardest part is starting, but you will figure it out!
Don’t forget to take a moment now and again to appreciate the progress you’re making. Change is scary and uncomfortable but it’s also exciting. Be kind to yourself as you navigate it all.
We could all use a support system. A Money Coach will give you the emotional and financial guidance you need to feel confident enough to go after your dream, build your personal plan, and stay on track to meet your goals.
